Clamecy is in the Nièvre department of northern Burgundy, to the west of Vezelay.

Set in the wooded landscape of the Yonne Valley, Clamecy is an attractive medieval town and is a listed 'Ville Fleurie so has lots of flowers!

The town, with its narrow winding streets is best explored on foot. Visit the Saturday market where stalls selling their wares and local produce take over the streets. There are some very pretty medieval houses in the town, especially around the Saint-Martin church -you will enjoy exploring the narrow pedestrian streets and discovering impressive buildings at each turn including a curious byzantine style church.

Fishing is very popular in this area, so bring your rod. There is also an indoor and outdoor swimming pool in the town centre. There are 2 local hypermarkets

If you plan to visit in July do not miss Bastille Day (July 14th) which is also the date on which the Tournament du Roi Sec takes place on the Yonne river at Clamecy.
